There are probably 5 possible causes of this problem:
1. Payment declined by the Issuing Bank:
As you may know, the Issuing Bank always acts for clients’ sake. That is why it is able to cease any unclear transactions at its own discretion. The doubt can be resulted from the transaction amount (greater than normal) or senders’ address, etc. If this is the case, please contact your Bank to confirm with them this is a legal transaction.
2. Verification Issue from 3D Secure:
If your card is found not to register with 3D Secure or you’ve got the message saying that 3D Secure data not being accepted/verified by Visa/Mastercard Secure, etc., kindly contact your Issuing Bank to confirm that your card has registered for 3D Secure. If this issue persists after the confirmation, it’s recommended that you should try Wire Transfer (Bank Transfer) or use another card to process the payment.
Another possibility for unsuccessful payments with 3D Secure is that you fail to enter the OTP (One-Time Password) in the required time (ranging from 1 to 5 minutes for each OTP generated, depending on each Bank). In this case, please keep an eye on the effect time of the OTP to make sure it is entered properly.
3. Browser Issues:
Some Anti-virus and Firewall software can block card payments. Please check if you have added TransferWise to the list of “Safe Merchants” and allowed popups or not.
The other way is use another Browser.
4. Insufficient Funds:
There are 2 possibilities in this case:
- Not enough money in your account.
- The transaction amount is greater than the maximum amount allowed to be transferred in a day (in case transference limit is set for your account).
If this is the case, please try bank transfer instead of card payment or split your payments into smaller amount in several times.
You might mistakenly close the browser before the information is filled out. Should another error message be incurred apart from the payment error, it’s highly recommended that you use bank transfer to make this payment.
